Friday Fill-In

Another Friday, another fill-in:

1. He was a heart breaker.

2. Late night ice cream runs with my friends is what I look forward to most this time of year.

3. My best friend lives entirely too far away from me.

4. I want to spend all of my money at Wilton, to be honest with you.

5. Appearances can be deceiving. This is something we had an in depth dinner discussion about last night. I'm always amazed at the things my friends are thinking!

6. The last person I gave a hug to was Stephen.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to Edmonton and seeing a movie, tomorrow my plans include a trip to the Wilton store and a big family dinner, and Sunday, I want to enjoy brunch with Stephen's family!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tonight Stephen and I are making a 4 hour trip (ugh, greyhound) to Edmonton. I finally get to meet his mom! She was living in South Carolina for most of our relationship, but in the past couple of months moved to Edmonton. We're finally getting the chance to go and visit her. This may sound silly, but I'm entirely too nervous. I always get that way when I'm meeting new people, so I suppose that's just normal. We've got a pretty full weekend planned, so it should be a good one. I'm starting to feel a cold coming on though....I hope I can make it through the weekend without being too sick. I've worked entirely too hard the past two weeks, so the moment that I finally slow down, my body protests and gets sick. Thaaanks!

My New Favorite Game

I had a BBQ on Saturday night, and while not a ton of people showed up like I was hoping for, my very best friends and my sister and her boyfriend did show up. After eating dinner on the balcony, we all moved indoors for dessert (last minute Indonesian Spice Cake) and a game: The Game of Things. There's a good chance that we played this game for 3 hours, it's that funny!
By the end of the game, every round had answers about me, and each round got dirtier than the last.
It's Saturday nights like these that I love the very most. Thank you friends.

Vocab and The Beast

I live with two line cooks, which has introduced me to the world of the kitchen (through their stories). Thanks to these two guys, I've picked up a new vocabulary for a few everyday items.

The fridge is often referred to as the cooler.
The BBQ is always The Grill.
Spatulas are now Spatties.
Reservations are now Reso's.
Yes is now Yo.

Those are just a few of the things that I noticed myself saying over the course of the past two months.

I baked my first ever white bread today, and let me just tell you that this thing was a BEAST! It rose so high that It touched the burner on the top of the oven! *Note to self: Remove top rack when baking bread. While it was a beast, it was so very good. We cut it up right out of the oven and smothered slices of it with Nutella and Jam. Yum! We're down to less than half a loaf....I'm looking forward to making more soon.
I used to be a bit afraid of baking bread for some reason, but with the success of this loaf, you can definitely bet that I'll be looking for new recipes to try out.
Random fact for you: Even though I have made it twice (succesfully!), I'm still kind of afraid of making my own pie crust.

Friday Fill-In

I'm so far behind on blogging this week. This week has been a rough one at work, so I've been zapped of all my energy. I seriously hope to catch up this weekend. But for now...this is a post short enough for me to do before work: Friday Fill-In!

1. I remember, I remember the 5th of November. (Ok, this quote almost works.)

2. Dear Cross Iron Mills Mall, I want you to know that you had your grand opening at a very inconvenient time. I would have liked to go.

3. Is that my last cookie??!!

4. I'm trying to resist the temptation of Dr. Pepper at 5:30am.

5. I'm saving a drink just for you!

6. If I made a birthday list a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer (!) would definitely be on it!!!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a lazy evening in, tomorrow my plans include a BBQ party at my place, and Sunday, I want to go out for lunch with Stephen!

Friday Fill-In

I'm going to try out Friday Fill-In....let's see how long I can stick with it.

1. When will I ever get around to baking?

2. Bright and Shiny Morning By James Frey was the last good book I read.

3. Everything has its beauty but morning hair is a little scary.

4. McDonald's (ugh!) is what I had for dinner (last night).

5. I'd like your maid to come clean my apartment.

6. Vancouver is where I want to be right now.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to my sister's 18th birthday dinner, tomorrow my plans include the same sister's birthday party and Sunday, I want to finally go grocery shopping and do my laundry!

Help!

I'm still trying to get used to Blogspot, so please bear with me.
Is there a way I can reply to individual comments. instead of just posting a new comment to my own entry?
I used to be good with the whole html business back in my live journal days, but I've forgotten it all and have no idea what to do.

A Coffee & Dinner Date

It's a gorgeous day today, and to make it even better, I have the day off! My nanny family is currently driving back from a wedding in Winnipeg, so I get to enjoy this gorgeous weather outside.
First up on the list of things to do? Meet up with my most favorite
Hannah (the one who's here from Abu Dhabi) and head to 17th Ave to window shop. One of my favorite coffee shops just happens to be here as well, Caffe Beano, so we're definitely stopping
there. There's always such an ecclectic mix of people sitting out front, so one could be entertained for hours.
After 17th, we'll be headed to Denny's to meet up with another friend, and it'll be fantastic!
I should probably stop procrastinating though and go get dressed. There will be no fabulous day if I stay in my pajamas all day!

Oh iTunes...

Before I moved, back when I still used my parent's computer, I had a pretty impressive iTunes library. Ok, so maybe it only impressed me (I did have around 3000 songs), but regardless, I was happy with it. I moved, and had to leave behind all of my music. I hadn't yet purchased an external hard drive, so my music stayed at home with my parents. Then my parent's computer got a virus and everything was almost lost, but luckily a tech savy friend of my parents' was able to salvage everything. My youngest sister has been happily enjoying my music for about a month now.

My Dad finally bought himself an external hard drive (it's about time), and all of my music now resides on there. I finally was able to get the hard drive over to my apartment, and put all of my music onto my boyfriend's computer. I was so very excited to get all of my music back finally! I now had about 4000 songs, due to my sister adding in some of her own music. I went to go through my library and clean it up some, only to find out that hardly any of my music seemed to make it through the transfer. I had to delete close to 4000 songs!
I'm not sure what happened along the way, but right now I'm crying on the inside. I'm going to try and get Stephen to take a look at it...I'm praying that I just made a mistake somewhere along the line.

I've been going nuts without my music. I don't have enough cds to sustain me, radio gets incredibly repetitive, and the music channels on Shaw cable are ok for only a bit. I'm looking for new places to listen to music (besides downloading from limewire or iTunes). Where do you guys listen to your music online?
I'm looking for all the help I can get. I already know about The Hype Machine and I can't access Pandora Radio due to a little thing called living in Canada, ha.

A Surprise....

Time really flies, and the thing is, I don't know why it went by so fast! I've been busy working and enjoying summer, so I guess I haven't had the time to write a proper update like I wanted to.

I still don't have the time, as I should be in bed this very moment, but I just had to share something that literally made me scream with delight! My friend Hannah is here visiting from Abu Dhabi....a whole two weeks early! I went to another friend's house tonight and she was there, hiding in the shower waiting for me! I haven't seen Hannah in two years, so I'm excited for the adventures that are sure to ensue over the next month!
